Balloon Advertising Effectiveness
A recent survey in North America discovered the following statistics:
- Attention:
- - 100 percent of respondents in the survey indicated that Hot Air Balloons drew their immediate attention.
- - 66 percent noticed billboards.
- - 58 percent noticed mobile advertising.

- - 90 percent of respondents would comment on and discuss the Hot Air Balloons that they see.
- - 30 percent would comment on billboards.
- - 22 percent would comment on mobile advertising.
- Awareness and retention:
- - 96 percent could name three balloons they had seen.
- - 25 percent could name three billboards.
- - 10 percent could name three mobile advertisements.
- Involvement:
- - Over 50 percent of the respondents said they would stop and watch a Hot Air Balloon.
- - 33 percent will take a photograph and 15 percent would actually follow it.
- - Hot Air Balloons exceed the expectations and retention of standard advertising by becoming an event.
- Target groups:
- - 100 percent recognition exists among male and female age 18-34, and 35 plus age groups.
- - Women have a slightly greater recall of the balloon they saw.
- - 96 percent of all respondents could name three balloons.
- - 100 percent could name at least two balloons.
- - 75 percent of those surveyed observed Hot Air Balloons from their car.
- - 50 percent of those surveyed observed balloons flying over the suburbs, offices, and industrial areas.
- - 25 percent of those surveyed were people engaged in recreational activities.
- Visual Impressions per Flight:
- - Over an average sized town with a population of 250,000 plus the balloon would be seen by over 50,000 people. Over a major city or event this would increase dramatically.
